Sustainability
Built on the principles of Permaculture, the heart of our business is a deep respect for the land, the materials, and the legacy they carry.
-
We source timber responsibly—favoring reclaimed wood, locally salvaged species, and suppliers committed to ethical forestry.
-
Every offcut is repurposed ensuring minimal waste. Unusable scrap timber is used in our wood stove to cook and heat our home in the winter. Wood chips, shavings and dust from the production of projects are used as ingredients to make rich organic compost for use in our permaculture vegetable garden and orchard.
-
We use traditional finishes made with all natural ingredients. We even make our own with beeswax based finishes and polish from our own hives!
-
Our hand-tool approach not only preserves traditional craftsmanship but also reduces energy consumption and noise pollution.
-
By teaching others to value slow craft and durable design, we foster a culture of sustainability—where each piece tells a story of stewardship, intention, and enduring beauty.
We practice 'At least three or more uses for everything' extending the life of every resource in every way we can.
-
Any tools or equipment that become unservicable are repurposed or recycled at our local council recycling facility.
Very soon we will be running the workshop on 100% solar power. Very Exciting!
