Country Style foot Stool
Make your own old fashioned country style footstool with vintage traditional hand tools and a board of beautiful Australian native Queensland Hoop pine. 100% beginner friendly!
If you've always wanted to make your own piece of furniture then this course is for you!
What you get
A beautiful completed foot stool to take home at the end of the course (and bragging rights that you made it yourself with hand tools!).
A small friendly class of six or less.
All safety equipment is provided
Lunch and morning tea.
Kitchen facilities with a microwave and fridge are free to use.
What you will learn
Workshop and hand tool safety
Timber grain and structure and how to read it
Accurate measuring and marking out skills
Cutting and shaping techniques
How to make tight fitting housing joints
Use of fasteners
Surface preparation and application of 100% natural finishes
Tools you'll learn how to use
Square, pencil, steel rule, scratch awl, marking knife and marking gauge
Hand saws including a crosscut saw and ripping saw
Drills including a carpenters swing brace and bit and eggbeater drill
Bench planes, spoke shaves, rasps and files
Chisels and mallet
Hand router
Screwdriver
Sanding block and garnet paper
Paintbrush and hand made traditional tung oil finish and beeswax polish
What to bring
Fully enclosed shoes, leather if possible.

Booking information
To secure your spot book online below with a $50 deposit.
You will receive an email containing your receipt for the deposit and account details to pay the balance via bank transfer (or call us to organise to pay in cash).
Please check your junk email folder if your booking confirmation and deposit receipt do not appear in your email inbox immediately.
We ask that payments be finalised at least seven days before the first session.
When the payment has cleared you will receive a receipt for the balance via email.
Please contact us if you wish to pay the balance by card. This will incur a 2.2% fee

Byron Roberts

Byron teaches woodworking as both a skill and a soulful, mindfulness experience. He teaches people to understand the wood and how it feels to work it with traditional edge tools. His workshops are lively, hands-on journeys where laughter mingles with sawdust, and everyone leaves with a smile and a piece of woodwork to be proud of. Byron is a highly qualified educator with a Bachelor of Industrial Design, Graduate Diploma of Education, a Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment, and 21 years of teaching and technical education experience.
