
Homeschool Woodwork - Level 1
An introductory woodworking class for Home School students.
Description
In this the first of 3 levels, students will learn essential skills and knowledge to get wood working. They will learn about the characteristics of wood, working safely, reading and interpreting technical drawings (literacy and numeracy), accurate measuring and marking, cutting, drilling and shaping, joining, use of fasteners, and surface preparation and finish. The first project for Level 1 will be a Japanese style box that can be used for pencils or keepsakes. The next project will be decided upon based on the needs and/or interests of the group. Each project is carefully designed and taught by a qualified Industrial Arts Teacher and Industrial Designer with 21 years of experience as a technical educator, and can be linked to the NSW Stage 4 and 5 Industrial Technology – Timber syllabus.

Booking and Cancellation Policy
A deposit of $50 to hold a place is required. The remaining balance of the class fee is to be paid by bank transfer or cash at least 7 calendar days before the first session. If the balance has not been paid in this time the deposit will be forfeit and the booking will be cancelled. If you cancel, every effort will be made to fill the place with someone on the wait list. However, A cancellation 7 days or less before the first session will receive a 50% refund of the total cost if the place cannot be filled by someone on the wait list. A cancellation 24hrs or less from the first session will receive a 25% refund of the total cost if the place cannot be filled by someone on the wait list. Sessions need at least 5 participants to run. In the unlikely event that the places are not filled and the class is cancelled, you have the option of a full refund if you have already paid, or to join the wait list as a priority participant to be contacted when places can be filled.
